Intervarsity Competition & Workshop : Communicating Evidence to Empower Informed Decision-Making 2.0”

Cochrane Malaysia will be organizing an intervarsity competition and workshop on "Communicating Evidence to Empower Informed Decision-Making”. This competition involves students to creatively produce a video that will showcase how healthcare professionals can use a Cochrane plain language summary in a clinical setting to help patients make evidence based informed decisions about their healthcare plans.

The objectives of the competition are to :

1. Increase awareness about Cochrane evidence as a trusted source of information.
2. Improve skills on communicating evidence
3. Promote consideration of patients’ needs and perspectives in communication
strategies
4. Foster teamwork, leadership skills and creativity among students
5. Promote university’s commitment to evidence-based healthcare.

This is a team competition and is open to all institutions of higher learning in Malaysia and
abroad, with undergraduate level health-science related programmes (medicine, pharmacy,
dental, nursing, physiotherapy, dietetics etc).

The competition will culminate in a workshop Systematic Reviews Made Easy on 28
November 2025 at RCSI & UCD Malaysia Campus, Penang, Malaysia.

Team prizes :
 First prize: RM700
 Second prize: RM500
 Third prize: RM300

Participation fee:
1. RM50 per team of 3
2. Free for RUMC International Medical Research Conference (RIMRC) participants.

All participating teams will receive a certificate of participation.

Bonus event : “Social night by the sea” – a student-only, student-led event (5-8pm)
