Intervarsity Workshop 2025

On 28 November 2025, Cochrane Malaysia conducted the Intervarsity Competition & Workshop: "Communicating Evidence to Empower Informed Decision-making 2.0" in conjunction with the 2nd RUMC International Medical Research Conference 2025 at RCSI & UCD Malaysia Campus (RUMC), Penang. It was held as a pre-conference event for undergraduate students.

During the workshop, RUMC’s Dean, Dato’ Prof Dr Abdul Rashid Khan, welcomed the students followed by an introduction by Associate Professor Dr Tan May Loong. Next, Cochrane Trainers, Associate Professor Dr Foong Siew Cheng, Associate Professor Dr Tan May Loong and Associate Professor Dr Foong Wai Cheng held the workshop about what a good medical research is, the importance of systematic reviews and how to interpret the results. Students were also given topics to present as part of the hands-on session.

Then, Fabio Di Bello, Wiley’s Senior Customer Education Manager, guided us through how to use Cochrane Library and gave us a live demonstration via GoToWebinar. Finally, Associate Professor Dr Tan May Loong briefed the students about the benefits of volunteering and the various options available. The students were also invited to join the event “Social night by the sea” held by RUMC Student Association for students only.

Special thanks to Wiley Senior Customer Education Manager, Fabio Di Bello, for giving us a live demo on how to use Cochrane Library. We would also like to thank all the participants for their time, effort and engagement. We hope that the event was enjoyable, valuable and meaningful!
